Hoax web sites

Have you ever seen a spammy word salad web site made of a collection of keywords? Get ready for more. There are many splogs out there. Most of these are hoax web sites that sell fake anti virus software that don't work. They also like to push financial products of dubious origin.

In the future, we might see a sign on the netosphere that instead of saying "Beware of the Dog" says instead "Beware of the splog." A splog is a mix of spam + blog and it contains no useful information, only detritus that we do not need.
