Why men go to war?

OK so many say that we should not wage war. In fact, that we should learn the ways of peace. Question for you is. Why men go to war? Certainly, it is not the pay. Hard to motivate people with money. Few indeed would join. Yeah, increase the amount and you get the wrong kind of men. Perhaps, you would see many mercenaries. That said, people speak of honor and justice, but what really motivate men to go to war.
